Los Angeles, February 19, 2025 – The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has unveiled an eclectic and vibrant slate for its spring season, promising an array of film series, public events, and educational programs that spotlight celebrated filmmakers and cinematic milestones.

The highlight of the season includes the "Director’s Inspiration: Bong Joon Ho" series, which kicks off on March 23 to complement a new exhibition of the same name. This series will feature the Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho in person, discussing his influential works including a special screening of "The Thing" (1982) with John Carpenter on March 22, and in-depth conversations accompanying screenings of "Okja" (2017) and "Parasite" (2019).
The museum will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" (2005) with director Judd Apatow, and host a screening of "Barbie" (2023) with Oscar-nominated production designers Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer. This is in addition to a nitrate screening of Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" (1948), and the third-annual May the 4th celebration featuring Star Wars-themed programs.
Other notable events include the West Coast restoration premiere of Jean-Luc Godard’s "A Woman Is a Woman" (1961) in 4K, a conversation with Lyndon Barrois Sr. and Lilly Wachowski about the Matrix trilogy, and various film screenings exploring themes from cyberpunk to Chinese-language cinema.
To honor visionary female directors, the museum has scheduled a book signing with Marya E. Gates, author of "Cinema Her Way," followed by a screening of "Gas Food Lodging" (1992) and a discussion with director Allison Anders.
Education programs are robust this season, with the Careers in Film Summit offering free workshops and a special focus on film industry careers behind the camera. Additionally, the museum provides ongoing series like Oscar® Sundays and Family Matinees, catering to film enthusiasts of all ages.
Tickets for these events are available through the Academy Museum's website, with various pricing options including discounts for seniors, students, and children. Museum members enjoy complimentary general admission and several exclusive benefits.
This spring's programming at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures not only celebrates the art and history of film but also engages communities with diverse and innovative cinematic experiences.
