LOS ANGELES, CA – Webtoon Entertainment, the global parent company of digital comics giant Naver Webtoon, made a powerful statement at Anime Expo 2025, signaling a significant and strategic expansion into the global animation market. Thousands of attendees flocked to the impressive booth daily, drawn by a large LED screen showcasing a dynamic lineup of upcoming projects. The message was clear: the vast library of beloved digital comics on Webtoon is poised to become a dominant force in animation.

The most significant news from the booth was the official confirmation of three major anime adaptations from its catalog of hit series. The company formalized production and released exclusive first-look footage for:

  • 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint': A sprawling fantasy epic where the world of a webnovel becomes reality for its lone reader. The series has garnered a massive international following, and the confirmation of its anime was met with fervent enthusiasm.

  • 'Mercenary Enrollment' (Teenage Mercenary): An action-packed story following a young mercenary who must trade the battlefield for the high school classroom. Its blend of intense action and personal drama has made it a top-ranking title on the platform.

  • 'Eleceed': A fan-favorite action-fantasy that brings together a kind-hearted, cat-loving secret agent and a super-powered high school student. A behind-the-scenes video for the production was also screened, offering fans a glimpse into the creative process.

The announcements underscore a burgeoning trend of webtoons serving as the source material for major anime productions, a space traditionally dominated by Japanese manga.

Crowning the event's success was a landmark moment for one of the platform's most iconic series. SIU, the celebrated creator of the global phenomenon 'Tower of God,' held his first-ever official fan signing in North America. The event drew massive crowds, with fans lining up for hours to meet the artist behind the trailblazing series that helped pave the way for webtoon-to-anime adaptations. 'Tower of God' was one of the first Webtoon Originals to receive a hit anime adaptation, and SIU's presence at the expo was a powerful symbol of the medium's journey and its creator's global reach.

"This was a moment that reaffirmed the global expansion potential of webtoon IPs," said Kim Yong-soo, Chief Strategy Officer of Naver Webtoon, remarking on the high interest from local fans.

Through its ambitious "Where Stories Start" booth and groundbreaking announcements, Webtoon Entertainment didn't just participate in Anime Expo; it declared its arrival as a major player in the future of animation, promising a new and exciting pipeline of stories for a global audience.
