KCON LA 2026 Draws 142,000, the Largest Crowd in the Festival's 14-Year History

Record turnout in Los Angeles caps a year in which CJ ENM's K-culture festival also pulled 120,000 fans in Japan and pushed its all-time attendance past 2.35 million.

LOS ANGELES — KCON LA 2026 closed on August 16 with the biggest audience the Korean culture festival has recorded anywhere in the world, drawing 142,000 fans across three days at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena.

The figure, reported by festival producer CJ ENM, represents an increase of roughly 14 percent over the previous year and surpasses every single-edition attendance number the festival has published since its debut. KCON's earlier high-water mark of 140,000 had stood since August 2023, when the Los Angeles edition first reached it, and was matched by KCON Japan in May 2024.

Held under the theme "K-SOUL CITY," this year's Los Angeles edition rebuilt a version of Seoul in the middle of downtown LA. Expo space expanded across two levels of the convention center, with signage modeled on Korean subway stations guiding visitors between a K-beauty and K-story wing and a night market. A total of 36 acts performed, 144 companies and brands took part across 724 booths, and the festival was streamed to more than 250 regions worldwide.

A lineup built for a milestone year

The three nights of M Countdown concerts at Crypto.com Arena were anchored by NCT 127, ZEROBASEONE and TOMORROW X TOGETHER as daily headliners, with extended set times compared with previous editions.

The weekend's most talked-about booking was Wanna One. The group, assembled through Mnet's Produce 101 and disbanded in 2019, returned to a KCON stage for the first time in nearly a decade following its reunion earlier this year on the Mnet reality series Wanna One Go: Back to Base. It was the group's first substantial appearance in front of an international audience since disbanding.

Several acts used the festival as a first point of contact with American fans. TOMORROW X TOGETHER, previously a fixture of the Japanese edition, joined the Los Angeles lineup for the first time. &TEAM and HYBE Latin America's Santos Bravos made their KCON LA debuts, while NEXZ performed in the United States for the first time. Rounding out the bill were TREASURE, P1Harmony, ILLIT, izna, RESCENE, ALPHA DRIVE ONE and from20, among others.

Fan-participation formats remained central to the draw. The returning Dream Stage, which auditions fans from submitted dance videos and puts them on the M Countdown stage alongside artists, featured NCT 127's "Kick It," ILLIT's "It's Me" and a TOMORROW X TOGETHER selection.

Two legs, one record year

Los Angeles was the second stop of KCON's 2026 calendar. The year opened in May with KCON JAPAN 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, which drew approximately 120,000 fans over three days. That edition featured 33 acts across roughly 36 performances and programs, with 300 booths built around the annual theme "Walk in SOUL CITY." Samsung Galaxy returned as title sponsor for a third consecutive year.

Together the two events lifted KCON's cumulative offline attendance to about 2.35 million since the festival launched in Irvine, California, in 2012. It has since been staged in 14 regions across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.

Growth beyond the concert hall

Part of the attendance jump traces to programming that has little to do with the arena. Olive Young staged its first US edition of Olive Young Festa alongside the festival, filling roughly 1,422 pyeong of exhibition space with 55 K-beauty and lifestyle brands and drawing 100,000 visitors on its own. Its layout borrowed from Seoul's Gangnam, Seongsu, Myeongdong and Hongdae districts.

K-COLLECTION with KCON LA 2026, a joint program run with Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups, brought 40 small Korean companies to the convention floor. A parallel B2B matchmaking session organized with KOTRA produced more than 193 one-on-one meetings with 77 American buyers and roughly $8 million in export memoranda of understanding. Eight participating companies sold through their entire on-site inventory.

Digital reach grew faster than the gate. Content uploaded during the festival period surpassed 43 million cumulative views, a 173 percent increase over the previous year, with a short-form clip of Wanna One performing "Energetic" passing three million views on its own.

Institutional footing, and a 2027 date

The record comes a year after the City of Los Angeles formally designated a KCON Day, giving an event founded by a Korean entertainment company standing as a recognized local cultural fixture. CJ ENM has framed the Los Angeles edition as the anchor of the wider KCON circuit, the market where the format was first proven and where it continues to set the ceiling.

KCON LA 2027 is already scheduled for August 13 to 15 at Crypto.com Arena and the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Attendance, booth and transaction figures are as reported by CJ ENM, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and KOTRA.
